Time tracker app

DeLorean is an idea and an experiment that came to us due to a difficulty we encountered when working with a particular client: for assigning projects and tasks, they corporately used Workfront, an excellent tool, but for some reason, part of the team found it ineffective when it came to entering important data for the business: the time they spent on each task.

Time is money

Designing a tool to solve problems is always challenging — even more so when you're both the 'end user' designer and the coordinator. You have to be careful not to prioritize your own (possibly more personal or subjective) needs over the broader, more urgent ones of the entire team — at least when aiming for an MVP.

A personal flow

After research, interviews, and hypothesis testing, we concluded that Workfront's time-tracking capabilities weren't as expected or user-friendly as this team of users (composed of 150 designers and creatives). Due to certain system restrictions and their manual nature, they weren't able to complete the task satisfactorily. At the same time, for business strategy reasons, they absolutely had to continue using Workfront.

After months of research, we came up with a possible solution: integrating our internal time-tracking platforms (we moved from Toggl to Harvest) with their Workfront instance organically.

We proposed creating a dedicated time-tracking desktop/mobile app that would bring the best of other products together, but would directly update Workfront time instead of requiring a specialized platform to do so, saving on licensing, administrative complexity, and more.
